It’s normal to be uncertain about what to expect from detox. Before you sign up for treatment, it is a good idea to read through testimonials from previous clients. Because they’ve experienced the treatment process, these clients can help you understand what detox is like and what to expect from each step of treatment.
Addiction takes away your ability to choose, but detox can give you your choices back. Once you take the first step and begin your treatment, you stop being powerless. Through addiction recovery, you can choose your path in life again.

Matthew’s Hope is a great place to go to, but it’s all about decisions you make. You can come here and stay all you want, but when you leave it’s still your decision on what you do. You made the decision to come here, or you may have been forced to come here, but either way you better take all you can get because this program has a lot to offer.

Matthews Hope Detox Center was the best organization I have come across. I have been through four other detox centers in the past.

Matthew’s hope was the beginning of the rest of my life. The recovery support team has been my lifeline on this whole journey that I’ve taken. I might not be recovered today without y’all. Thank you so much and I love you all!
Jillian
Hello, I’m Jillian a recovering addict. When I was taken to St. Joseph’s on Thursday April 28 I did not know what I was getting myself into. I thought I would just be given medication through my IV for a few days and then I would move on with my life and try to be a functioning member of society. After being in the ER for thirteen hours I was taken to the second floor to Matthew’s Hope detox and recovery. I was still sick from withdrawals and did not believe I would be able to make it. All I could think about was how much better my drug of choice would make me feel and I had no intention on staying sober my first few days there. After experiencing what I thought was my own personal hell during those days I genuinely wanted to leave by that Sunday. I expressed that to the other patients I was in there with and they all encouraged me to stay. My decision to stay changed my life forever. When Monday came I went to my first big book group that is taught by the recovery support team. That group gave me the insight I needed to know about my addiction, the allergy, and how important it is for someone like me to stay sober. After listening to the lessons Melanie and Heather had taught us in group, I developed a very strong desire to stay sober. I genuinely wanted this for myself because they taught me and showed me how much more fulfilling of a life us addicts can live when we discipline ourselves to do the work to stay sober. Four days before my discharge date, I met with Melanie from the recovery support team and she provided me with an amazing sponsor and so many great resources that have helped keep me sober. The RST team has done a substantial job at caring and keeping in touch with us after treatment. I am so grateful for the experience and the assets Matthews Hope, and the RST team has provided for me so that I can live a more contented way of life.

Good morning to all of you folks at Matthews Hope. I am truly blessed and grateful for everyone involved with my recovery especially during those first few days of my withdrawal and trauma that I was coming out of. The staff’s direct involvement in my active recovery is a big key of my recovery now. Besides God as my number one go-to, you Folks at Matthew’s Hope gave yourselves the love and care I truly & wholeheartedly needed for my life. Thank you, Folks, so so much for everything you have done for. Stay blessed everyone and God willing keep going. Amen.

I feel like I am a walking testimonial to Mathews Hope since I got home! My probation officer was so impressed with her communication with Haley and others and their “attentiveness ” that she has mentioned y’all to other clients! People in my AA group have been very excited that there is a program that is so 12-step oriented, and I have to say, Heather and Melanie did a great job educating on that! I have been told I was so much prepared for 12 steps it was like I had been in AA before! I have not! This is my first recovery and with the help from God, my last! My sponsor says she is so excited to see my journey because I have embraced this like no one she has seen. Mathews Hope allowed me to be in that position! My counselor at IOP called me out in front of the group and had me tell my Mathews Hope story along with the IASIS treatment because I am so sold on that treatment! Organizations down here are looking to provide additional resources and presenting to legislation soon. Since they have tons of referrals and often send people for detox and recovery, I hope they begin to use y’all since they know about y’all now because our county needs some success stories!

Before I was entering Mathew Hope in the elevator. I never dreamed they would show me how to get a new pair of glasses of life. All the staff to me is LOVE. They loved me so I could maybe start loving myself. Then I started working on the AA program their way not Dustys way. What helps me is I never forget where I came from for my serenity.

Matthews Hope was a good experience. They have good counselors and a great big book study, and I’ve been in behavior hospital and rehab centers, and I would say that they have good counseling it has got me on the right track again where I feel this is my time I learned some things in there that really woke me up thanks to God and Matthews hope!

Y’all are beautiful. Y’all are alike. Y’all are caring. We receive the message more clearly because of the love that you all give. It’s a blessing to find people so kind in one place. We thank God for all of y’all.

Matthew’s hope detox was the best thing that I could have been to. Detoxing by myself was hard to do I had tried many times and was very unsuccessful with it. Going to Matthews hope was the best thing that I could ever do for myself. I went in not knowing what to expect and they were so accepting and compassionate when I needed it the most. The staff was amazing understanding and knowledgeable of what’s going on and what to do. The food was amazingly good I didn’t expect that. The iasis program was very helpful and calming it helped with the craving of drugs and depression that came when of getting of them. The big book lesson was very interesting, and the teacher knew exactly what to say and what she was doing. I never knew about the big book until I went to Matthew’s hope. This place actually saved me from losing my family, if I didn’t go in, I would have lost my daughter and lost contact with my mother and father and my son for good. I honestly am thankful for Matthew’s hope 🙏 💓

I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for Matthew’s Hope Detox. The recovery program is so easy and effective it is hard to put into words. I was an addict without hope and I didn’t know how to fix myself. That’s the thing, addicts cannot fix themselves without a place to go that is comforting, welcoming, and understanding. They cannot do it alone either. Most of all the staff is so relatable that it feels like home away from home and you can feel God in there when you need him most. I got my life back, I have my family back, and I have my faith back. Thank you so much.

Matthew’s Hope is a great facility. The staff was understanding and very knowledgeable. I really felt like they genuinely cared for my detox and recovery. The recovery support team was excellent. The resources provided are terrific – the App is a wealth of information recovery related. I would highly recommend Matthew’s Hope and the recovery support services to anyone considering detox.

I had no hope when I went to Matthew’s Hope. I was just out of options. I’m not where I need to be yet but I’m on my way. I’ve been in AA since I left Matthew’s Hope. I’m here alive and well to tell you that the 12 step program does work. Go to some meetings and see it for yourself it stick sout like a sore thumb. I’m just a normal guy with the same disease you have. I was sitting right in front of you two months ago. Heather, and others have life saving information for y’all. Please take it and use it. By the way the drug was Heroin. I love you all and there ain’t nothing you can do about it. Thanks for my life.
Ralph
My name is Ralph. I don’t mind if you know my name. Lots of people I’ve met with addiction problems know me and my name. I checked myself into Matthew’s Hope in May of 2021. It’s the single best experience of my drunken life. I drank for over 50 years. I was at the end of my life had I not gone to Matthew’s Hope. The staff is awesome!! I can’t say enough good things about them or explain how much they mean to me. They have saved my life and all that goes with it. I’m only sober today because of Heather and ALL the people there. (I’m terrible at remembering names). But I thank them all! Each one was so important to me.

For me, Matthews Hope was the perfect place to begin what I hope to be long term sobriety. It had a holistic approach in that I was treated medically, mentally, spiritually, and introduced to new technology. When I was in Matthew’s Hope, I found out some devastating family news. The staff was very kind and supportive, which certainly helped with the decision I made to stay in treatment after hearing the news. There are also wonderful after care options in that you can get involved in groups, stay connected and support each other through our sobriety journey. I am now almost 10 months sober and am very grateful for both Matthew’s Hope and the people that continue to help me today from there.
Kyle
Melanie, thank you so much, I am a BIG Mathews supporter and would very much like to spread the word. Matthew’s Hope was the perfect fit for me and I relay that to other people without hesitation. Anything I can do to help you guys is easy for me to do. Just let me know what you need. My favorite part of Matthew’s Hope is it really does want to see people get better and not a pushy rehabilitation center that likes the “tough love” approach. That is outdated and in my opinion makes people hate rehabilitation.
Gayle
I’m real grateful for Matthews hope. Yall’s program is so simple and down to earth. Heather explains it so well. Most people don’t know about the disease and don’t understand that. I’ve been to other treatment centers, and they did not do that. All of the nurses and the aids were wonderful.
Cassandra
Here at Matthew’s Hope I have experienced care, compassion, and honesty in all of my care and detox. Everyday I met with a counselor and the meetings were very productive. They understood my unique needs and showed me respect and empathy through the entire process. An extra special thank you to Maranda!
